The mission of Buena Vista PTA is to promote the welfare of our children by supporting teachers and providing enrichment activities for students so they have the best advantages in physical, mental and social education while fully experiencing the world around them.

What does the PTA do?

• Promote academic standards through class gifts, testing support, and purchasing equipment or supplies

• Promote the health and safety of our children through special campaigns, screenings and events

• Promote a fun and social environment through sponsoring enrichment activities and special events

• Improve the school environment

• Run various fund raisers throughout the school year to raise money to support our mission
• Coordinate parent volunteers for to support the school
• Show our gratitude and support for our teachers and staff throughout the year

Why should I join the PTA?

• Being involved in the PTA shows your children that you care about their education and what they do at school
• Being involved allows you to shape the opportunities your child experiences
• PTA offers you the chance to be a leader and make a difference in the school community
• Offers a venue for your ideas to become possibilities
• It’s rewarding and lots of fun

When and where are the meetings?

• Board Meetings are scheduled on the second Monday of each month at 6:30 PM in the library.  High school students are available for babysitting during the meetings.
• PTA playdates are scheduled on the second Thursday of each month at 2:30 PM on the playground.  This informal meeting allows parents the opportunity to be involved, be informed, and be heard.

Do I have to attend the meetings?

• No, but if you’d like a say in what the PTA does you should attend the meetings. The board meeting discuss issues in depth. If there is an issue you would like to discuss contact our PTA President about adding it to the agenda.  

How can I get involved?

• It is our goal to have 100% parent involvement in the PTA
• Buena Vista and the PTA encourage all families to contribute 2 hours/ month of volunteer time at the school.  This can be attendance of a PTA meeting, being a room parent, decorating for a special event, hosting an afterschool club, etc.
