We are working closely with the District 11 Community Education Office to bring a new Before and After Care provider to the Buena Vista school for the 2009-2010 school year-the YMCA of the Pikes Peak Region.

The YMCA of the Pikes Peak Region’s Before and After School Child Care Program provides children with opportunities outside of the school day for growth and fun. They have developed a variety of activities for children that emphasize eight core components:

• Literacy
• Character Development
• Health, Wellness and Fitness
• Service Learning
• Arts and Humanities
• Science, Math and Technology
• Social Competence and Conflict Resolution
• Homework Support

These core components are strongly aligned to the values and principles of our Montessori program, as well as the support we provide to students daily through our classroom instruction, interventions, and positive behavioral support through our ROSES (Respect for Others, Self, the Environment, and Safety) program.

The YMCA will be represented at our Farewell to Buena Vista ceremony on May 22, 2009 from 5:00-7:00 to answer general questions, questions regarding enrollment options, and to provide additional information to families interested in a Before/After Care program.

We are delighted to begin this partnership with the YMCA as we move to our new school location and look forward to building a partnership that serves the needs of working families in our Montessori community.

Getting Registered

All registration paperwork must be received by the Association Child Care office prior to a child’s first day in the program. Forms can be picked-up at any of the centers within the YMCA of the Pikes Peak Region Association, at Before & After School Program Sites, or downloaded. Payment arrangements must be made prior to children’s first day in the program.

Hours

The before school program opens at 6:30am and run until the beginning of school. The after school program runs until 6pm.

School’s Out Days

The kids are out of school, but you still have to go to work. So, sign them up for YMCA School’s Out Days. We’ll keep them busy with a variety of fun and educational activities.  Drop-off times start as early as 6:30am and continue to as late as 6pm, to
accommodate most work schedules. Contact the YMCA facility serving your school district for a list of days. We offer dates to match most school holidays.
